In English, Nalladraksha dried is commonly known as black raisins or dried black grapes. Larger varieties with seeds are also referred to as Munakka. In traditional Ayurveda, they are highly regarded as a healing superfood called Draksha Shosha.
Dried black grapes are packed with essential antioxidants, iron, potassium, and dietary fibre, offering several prominent health and culinary uses.
🩺 Health & Medicinal Uses
- Relieving Constipation: They act as a mild, natural laxative. The high dietary fibre and cellulose content regulate bowel movements and improve overall gut health.
- Treating Anemia: Dried black grapes are an excellent source of non-heme iron and B-complex vitamins, which directly help increase hemoglobin levels and combat fatigue.
- Reducing Acidity and Heartburn: According to Ayurveda, they are a natural coolant (Shita virya). They help balance stomach acids, relieving hyperacidity, chest burning, and oral ulcers.
- Improving Skin and Hair Health: Rich in antioxidants like anthocyanins and vitamins C and E, they detoxify the blood. This helps reduce acne, prevents premature aging, and strengthens hair follicles.
- Boosting Bone Density: They contain high levels of calcium and boron. Both minerals are crucial for bone formation, maintaining bone strength, and preventing arthritis.
- Managing Blood Pressure: The high potassium content helps flush out excess sodium from the body, which naturally aids in regulating blood pressure and protecting heart health.
